6 months to go!

Well Its official I have only 6 months left till my 30th! ta da da da!!!!

Am i worried....not a bit! So looking forward to it....

I am going to a music festival with friends a couple of weeks after my birthday...a weekend of music, friends and beer...what more could a girl ask for? Ok so a shower and the sun would be lovely too lol!

The week before my birthday I am thinking of walking the West Highland Way...95 miles from Glasgow to Fort William. I plan to raise money for charity while doing it too. My parents have always wanted to walk the WHW too so it will be something we can do as a family :) Hopefully I'll live to tell the tale lol.

But apart from all this celebrating I have still my list to complete! I forget what I have achieved and what there is still to do....so lets have another lookie...

The List (red is what I have achieved so far...)

1. Never look back with sadness always look forward.

2. Take up swimming and enter a swimathon.

3. Make a 2/3 year old chuckle with laughter.

4. Learn to fly a plane - at least take a lesson.

5. Be happy with your size.

6. Get that tattoo!

7. Wear a mans suit all day!

8. Climb Benachie.

9. Smile when you want to cry!

10. Learn a poem by heart.

11. Go down the big chute at the beach (At the leisure centre).

12. Cycle from one town to another.

13. Do the whole Deeside railway line, walking or cycling.

14. Snog someone you have fancied for a long time.

15. Hire a barge and enjoy the holiday experience.

16. Learn to speak a foreign language!

17. Make Creme Brule.

18. Go to Japan.

19. Get your eyebrows tattooed.

20. Volunteer to work in a charity shop .

21. Learn the sign language.

22. Buy a magazine from the homeless.

23. Write a short story and send it to a magazine.

24. Have a go at the crazy golf at the beach.

25. Speak to stranger as though you have known them you whole life!

26. Say the alphabet backwards.

27. Have cocktails at Malmason.

28. Contact a friend from primary school.

29. The next time weatherseal etc phone offering windows, doors and conservatories keep them on the line for half an hour then tell them it's a council house.

So I still have 19 things to do eeeek!!!!

Right I want to learn Italian as would love to tour round there one day (I have to stop booking other holidays first lol). So plan is to download some podcasts onto my ipod and get learning! Thats tonights job!

The swimathon is in March. I have 2 1/2 months of training. This weekend I have to get my bum into a swimsuit and get some swimming done! (it will also help with number 5).

I have picked a tattoo that I like...it's stars which cascade down my back aka like Rhianna's one...now I have to get a free weekend to get it done!

I need to look into flying lessons too (eeek I really dont like heights!)

And the outside walking/ cycling ones will have to wait till it's warmer lol.

Right I have a plan of action and now feel at least a little bit more organised! Better get cracking!

MIA...

I apologise I have been missing in action for a while...to be fair I was on holiday to the Dominican for my cousins wedding so of course the beach and the bar was definately top priority over blogging...but you have my undivided attention again (Lucky you!)

My holiday was fabulous, 2 weeks of sun, sea, sand and as much beer/rum/ food as a person could handle. All my family were there to celebrate my cousins wedding which was a lovely day. The bride had on a gown made of lace, the groom in a new wedding suit and looking a little hot around the collar with the sun shinning down on him. The bridesmade (also my cousin) dressed in a floaty teal dress and the flower girl in matching colours. Everyone looked stunning! And being traditional Scots we showed the dominicans how a wedding should be celebrated and partied the night away :) Hopefully I have made life long friends with people who live thousands of miles away...a great excuse for more holidaying woohoo!

So now I am back to reality with a bump and a cold too since Scotland is freezing this time of year! Brrrrr!

Roll on the next holiday I say...which just happens to be Vegas in February woohoo!

Whistle while you work..

Well its that time of year again when the weather is misrable, its dark 70% of the time, and you look forward to going home and putting on your jammies!

Only one thing to do...have a clear out of your house...get rid of all the clutter and make yourself feel useful! Well that's my plan!

So it started on sunday, bedroom got attacked..to be honest i got fed up fighting my way into my wardrobe every morning, never finding what i needed and trying to ignore the ironing for as long as possible lol. 12 hours it took, I did have a break for lunch, a trip to the local shop and a stop at the pet shop (i needed to escape the muddle for a while), but my wardrobe is now a place to be admired!

With the help of my dad (I am too dangerous to be left in charge of a drill!) I also got some more shelves put into my wardrobe and now everything is displayed properly :) I just cant help sliding the doors open to look at the neatness lol! Now the challenging part ensues.....I have to keep it that way!

However the rest of the flat looked a bit of a state with with black bags everywhile, piles of books and general clutter...why does that always happen? And somehow I have landed up with 2 laundry baskets of ironing, plus my clothes horse and radiator full of clothes! I now have stuff to keep me occupied for the next two nights...woohoo (not!)

Ahhh but it was all worth it...my sanity is intact lol!

This weekend I plan to start on the kitchen...

The Mysterious World of Speed Dating

A couple of glasses of vino, some cute but not too dressy outfits, a splash of make-up and a spritz of perfume...that's all it took before my friend and I were ready to delve into the mysterious world of speed dating...da da da da!

Which in case your curious, was a giggle! Twelve men and thirteen woman all looking to find that elusive spark in three minutes....realistic or not? Ha ha

The wine was flowing, the conversation sometimes free flowing other times a little sticking intermediately interrupted by the bell chimes that indicted it was time for the men to move on. A couple of short breaks between a series of dates allowed you to refuel or sometimes carry on the conversation with your 'date'. All in all a good night and a great way to increase your circle of friends....I mean what else would you be doing on a Monday night??

So now I am sitting waiting to find out if anyone has checked my 'box' so to speak...it takes me back to waiting by the phone waiting for a boy to get in touch. I am logging in to check for updates (twice in the last hour...while I'm on lunch...and woohoo 1 checked date box :) ). I did meet some guys I would like to see again so will be checking their boxes later (ooh err!) and hopefully a date or two will come out of this!

However I will say one good thing about it all....when else do you get to meet 12 men in a couple of hours that you know are single?? Exactly!

So if nothing comes of this....then sign me up for the next round! :D

Number 18 - Japan!

Well weeks of googling has paid off.

Thank you internet!!

I have finally found 'Japan' without having to actually go to Japan lol.

There is a restaurant in Hanover Square in London which has the name @Japan!

I now have to plan a trip to London to go to this restaurant. I'll be Eve @Japan lol :)

Number 21!

I almost forgot!!!

Number 21 - to learn sign language.

Since I was little my granda taught my sister and I the alphabet using BSL. I was always eager to learn more and even enquired about a course, although it was rather excpensive!

My sister has since learnt Makaton sign language and I was still intrigued to learn more.

I found out that one of the Brownie leaders I know uses BSL and would be willing to show the Girl Guides a few things....time for them to achieve an interest badge thought I!

Over the course of the last couple of months I have been learning sign language with the Girl Guides. Anyway we now know how to say, I mean sign, a few things to each other and also to say the Guide Promise! I am so impressed! The Girl Guides are happy they have a new badge and I am happy as I have achieved another thing on my list...winners all round!

So wooohoooo number 21 complete! yipee!!

Although I suspect I will keep learning this throughout the next year or so...it's soooo interesting!

It's been a while..

Well it's been a while since I was last on here, sorry for that! But to be honest I have been ill for a few days and I havent really done anything more about 'the list' as yet.

Though I have had a look into hiring a boat and sailing along the caledonian way ...it looks fab! Or maybe hiring a boat for a couple of hours on the Falkirk Wheel - maybe an idea for my 30th??
Now that would be different!

Still no luck on the Japan named pub or restaurant...my googling continues!

On other non list related stuff I have been thinking about my career a lot of late. I have been in this job for 6 years now albeit now fully qualified but am just wondering if its the right job for me? I have at least 4 more exams to do...but every so often I keep thinking about my original career path of a teacher. In this day and age is it wise to go into the teaching system though? Answers on a postcard....

Ta da! Number 17!

Well I did it! Number 17 is completed!!

After a day at the office and a couple of hours fighting for weight machines at the gym I went home and made Creme Brulee.

I was all set with the mixture then realised that I don't have any ramekins so i used a teacup lol..

What is the point of Creme Brulee? It's basically burnt pudding!

One down, only 23 more to go....

Number 10 on the list...A poem!

Rainbows
by Michael O. Adesanya

Rainbows would never be rainbows
If sunshine had never met rain
No one would ever need comfort
If there was no sadness and pain

But life holds both sunshine and showers
The days are not all bright and fair
So look through the showers for the rainbows
You will always find hope shining there

Ok so i woke up this morning and decided it was time to learn a poem...only a few minutes of googling found me this one which i quite like. Time to try and learn it i think and that'll be number ten completed woohoo:D

Soulful sunday...

Well thats another weekend over! And as yet not anything more done on my list lol!

Although I have had an idea to find a pub or restaurant called Japan...therefore I will technically be going to Japan without leaving the country! However all the googling in the world has resulted in nothing...my search continues....

As usual another busy weekend, lots of socialising, a trip to the theatre, and a pj party (with vodka jelly!). Had a blast and dinner with my sister and her hubby just ended the weekend nicely! Looking forward to the week ahead...and I might just make Creme Brulee tomorrow lol :)

Some are good, some are strange and some are personal to me but I will try my best to complete them all. Two and a half months have passed and I have completed the ones in red...not the best start lol. Over the next 8 1/2 months I plan to complete all of these, however i am not sure how I am going to get to Japan considering I have two other holidays planned lol. But excuses, excuses I hear you all say...

Right so I need a plan of attack....at least 3 of these a month....starting with number 17! Here we go....eeek!

Why I'm here...

Well Foo's your doo's as us Scottish folks say...don't worry I'm not going to be speaking scots the whole time...but thought I should start on the right foot.

Anyway Hi I'm me, woke up this morning and thought hmmmm i think i'll start a blog. I used to keep a diary as a teenager and love reading back on all the memories, plus at this moment in time I have so many thoughts, challenges, dreams and wishes that I have to put them somewhere or I might just explode! And I really don't want that to happen...I quite like my life you know...

A little about my life...I'm 29, single, I live alone in a wonderful flat and have 2 cats....aka the boys, the beasts or their actual names of Oscar (Oscar Wilde is his sunday name) and Duke (aka Duke of Hazard). I have lots of friends, the best family a girl could ask for and basically I am a social butterfly...what can i say I do what I want when I want lol. Oh and I drive a 206cc....yup I'm a poser in my convertable.. sunglasses and everything :)

Right well I can blether for Scotland and the whole of Europe so I apologise now...and on that note I am going to sign off for just now and go and make a coffee...I suggest you do the same :)
